Over the years I have used White's, Garrett, Tesoro and Minelab metal detectors. Each detector that I used served a purpose at the time. My first metal detector was the Whites prism 4. It worked great for a beginner's detector. I turned it on and immediately started finding coins and later small pieces of jewelry. The prism 4 helped me find my first gold wedding band in the dry sand. For those of you who already metal detect you understand what I am talking about. Whether it is a relic, coin or piece of gold when you find something special the reaction you get in your mind and body is just overwhelming excitement and the best part is that it never changes. Really it doesn't have to be something of great value. There is always a surprise in the sand scoop.
I have friends who were avid fishermen, had beautiful boats and went fishing every single weekend. They soon were selling their boats once they started finding gold in their sand scoops. Now they are out ever chance they get trying to beat their best find or the number of rings found in a single day. You can be tired and ready to quit for the day but when you find a nice ring or other piece of jewelry you get this feeling that makes you want to continue because you're sure that your next ring is just a few steps away. What a great hobby. .
Being a successful metal detectorist takes time, study and dedication. Can you turn on the detector and find something incredible the first time you use it? Of course you can but it is very unlikely that you will be that successful on some of your first attempts. You have to be willing to put in the time, dig all those bottle tops, trash and pull tabs in order to get what you're looking for.
Minelab's CTX 3030 is an all terrain detector. It is used by thousands of metal detectorists throughout the world hunting civil war relics, Roman coins and Viking hoards to name a few. In my case, I use the Minelab CTX 3030 for beach water, wet sand and dry sand hunting. I mostly hunt in the water and wet sand these days. I have had major successes with the CTX 3030. It has great battery life and will take you through your day without fail. It is quiet with no chatter and has all the bells and whistles you would expect from Minelab like bluetooth, GPS and more. I recently purchased the CTX. One would say that I had some luck making these finds but I can tell you that the CTX delivers all that is promised in a detector and is worth a look if your planning to upgrade or even start detecting for the first time.
Below you will see some of my recent finds with the CTX. The two Cartier bracelets were found in the same day and the photos with the Burberry bag was found in the water filled with sand. You can imagine removing the sand and finding the jewelry. Who would have thought? Only in metal detecting can you find such surprises. This is one of the best hobbies you will ever find. Where else can you have fun, get exercise and find things that you never thought was possible? Happy Hunting and stay safe out there.
